Our story

More than
a place to
eat well

We wanted Hygge to be a place where people feel truly at home — free from conventions, surrounded by warmth, good food and the people they love.

"The ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures: relaxation, humour, friendship, seasonal food and drinks. This is Hygge."
Calea Victoriei Hygge

Calea Victoriei,
nr. 21

We chose Calea Victoriei because we believe in its beauty — architecturally rich, historically layered and deserving of its former interwar glory. We wanted to be part of bringing it back to life, not just for tourists, but especially for locals.

Our design is discreet, but full of character — with a permanent caricature exhibition by cartoonist Costel Pătrășcan that brings humour and originality to the space, plenty of mirrors to catch your smiling face and details that all point to one thing: feeling good.

What we stand for

The Hygge principles

01

Local & Seasonal

We source organic ingredients from local producers and let the seasons dictate our menu. Honest cooking, creative combinations, always fresh.

02

Made In-House

Our syrups, infusions and drink bases are all crafted in house. Our wine list is exclusively local — small estates with original character.

03

Community First

We respect everyone who walks through our door. We ask for feedback, listen to suggestions and build relationships that go beyond a single meal.

Quality is not
a moment —
it's a habit

To stay on the map of places that must be tried, we have to keep getting better. Anchored in reality, but above all — respectful and in constant conversation with the people who walk through our door.

We have customers who've become friends. We ask them first when we try something new. They've come to us with ideas for themed weekends that we've actually organised — and they've worked beautifully.

Some of our regulars visit every week. Others are tourists who loved it so much they come back every time they're in Bucharest.

A permanent exhibition

Art, humour
& good taste

The walls of Hygge are home to a permanent caricature exhibition by Romanian artist Costel Pătrășcan. Witty, warm and wonderfully original — it's one of the details that makes our space unlike anywhere else in the city.
